Walkers from Northwestern Michigan College and local organizations came together for the walk on Monday night.

It's National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, and the community honored that in Traverse City by walking through downtown.

A street outreach coordinator for Goodwill led the walk, which made stops at Central United Methodist Church, the beach, the Governmental Center, Jubilee House and Safe Harbor - all places where the walkers volunteer their time.

The walk was to show that a place like Traverse City isn't immune from homelessness and that it's a growing problem in our country.

Every little bit helps, right?
