The City of Flint and the Flint Downtown Development Authority (DDA) invite you to Downtown Flint Tuesday, November 30, 2010 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for the second annual Flint Holiday Festival.

The event will include a tree lighting ceremony with Flint City Mayor Dayne Walling, a parade, musical performances and a visit from Santa Claus. Children have the opportunity to join Santa and Mrs. Claus in “Santa Land” at The University of Michigan-Flint Pavilion where there will be many fun activities for children, along with a free picture taken with Santa (limited to the first 500 participants).

A parade begins promptly at 6 p.m., starting at Flint City Hall and running along Saginaw Street. Various colorful floats fill the street, along with a number of local marching bands and additional participation from local organizations. Entertainment takes place at the corner of Saginaw and Kearsley streets, with community choirs, dancers and other musical performances.

Adults can spend the evening strolling up and down the streets of downtown Flint and enjoy what various downtown businesses have to offer. Throughout the evening, businesses will be accepting donations for the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, as well as other local charities. Free parking will be available at the DDA Flat Lot and the James Rutherford Parking Ramp.
