There have been many questions concerning the effectiveness of the water filters that have been handed out in Flint to deal with the high lead levels.

In an ABC12 report it states that

According to NSF records online- the Brita Faucet Filtration system model SAFF-100 and model FF-100 are qualified to reduce lead.

There have been many conflicting reports about the water filters lately.

We checked the Brita website, and lead is not listed as one of the materials that is removed by the faucet mounted system.

Flint resident, Paul Leonard, posted a video on Facebook where he called Brita, and they confirmed that the filter does not remove lead.

We wanted to call Brita ourselves to confirm this, but we got a very different answer.

So what is the truth?  I admit that I have no idea, and after trying to get clarification from the source, I'm even more confused than I was when this started.

If you would like to help make sure that kids in Flint have safe drinking water, you can donate bottled water to our Safe Water Flint project on Friday October 9th.
