This one looked to be a slugfest at first. Cleveland scored two in the first off Tiger starter Doug Fister. Detroit responded with two of their own in the second off Cleveland's starting pitcher. Then the rains came. Two hours later the game resumed and both starting pitchers were done for the night. The score would remain 2-2 until the bottom of the 14th.

A walk, a base hit and an intentional walk loaded the bases for Cleveland. Kosuke Fukudome had struck out his previous 4 at-bats, but would take one for the team as he was hit by a pitch to force home the winning run off reliever David Pauley. The game took nearly 7 hours to finish. Cleveland used all of their relief pitchers and the Tigers used all but closer Jose Valverde. The same two teams will play again tonight in Cleveland. Rick Porcello gets the start for the Tigers, who now lead the Indians by 3 games in the American League Central. 7:05 pm first pitch.
