Max Scherzer had another rough outing for the Detroit Tigers.  After two consecutive starts where he gave up seven runs in each game, Scherzer only gave up five runs in five innings.  He got an awful lot of help this time, and left the game with a 9-5 lead.  The Tigers kept piling on, and Scherzer was rewarded with his 7th win of the season.

Brennan Boesch had the best night of his young career, with five hits (two of them homers)  and five runs batted in.  Andy Dirks and Alex Avila also homered to power the Tigers.  Every Tiger starter had at least one hit, and the 18 hits was a season-high for Detroit.  The 13-7 victory was the third in a row for the Tigers, and coupled with another Cleveland loss pulls Detroit to within one and a half games of the first-place Indians.

The Tigers and Rangers will play again Tuesday night in Texas, Rick Porcello will be the Tiger starting pitcher.  Game time is 8:05 pm.
