Justin Verlander was dominant tonight.  He pitched 8 innings, struck out 10, and the only run Seattle scored came on a wild pitch in the 5th inning.  The Tigers also decided to do all of their damage in the 5th  

scoring 4 runs in the inning, 2 on Brennan Boesch's homer and another on Alex Avila's second triple of the night.  Don Kelly's base hit brought home Avila for the 4th run.  The win pulls the Tigers to within a game of the first-place Cleveland Indians, who had the day off. 

The Tigers and Mariners will play again tomorrow night at 7:05 at Comerica Park in Detroit.  Brad Penny will start for the Tigers, looking for his 6th win of the season.
