The math is pretty simple for the Detroit Tigers.  A win by the Tigers in any of their last three games of the season at Kansas City will result in the Tigers winning the American League Central title.  A loss by the Chicago White Sox will accomplish the same result, as the second place Sox visit Cleveland to wrap up their season.Seems pretty cut and dried for the Tigers.  But it's not over until it's over.  The Tigers had to face the Twins in a one-game playoff to decide the A.L. Central crown in 2009.  That didn't work out so well for us.

For a Game 163 to take place this season, the Tigers would have to lose all of their 3 remaining games and the White Sox will have to win their final 3 games.  Seems improbable, but you just never know.

In the eventuality that a game 163 is needed, tickets for it will go on sale tomorrow at noon at 866-86-TIGER or www.tigers.com  There are also a few tickets remaining for the American League Divisional Series.

The Tigers haven't had back-to-back appearances in the postseason since 1934-1935.

One more win for the Tigers or one more loss by the Sox and we are there.  Rick Porcello gets the start as pitcher in tonight's game.  Detroit recently swept the Royals in a 4-game series at home.  The Royals record may not indicate it, but they will make the Tigers earn their spot in the playoffs.
