The Tigers saw their 12-game winning streak come to an end last night, but still moved closer to clinching the American League Central Division title when second-place Cleveland lost. The Tiger magic number is now 1. That means that a Tiger victory at Oakland or Cleveland loss to Minnesota tonight will result in the Tigers becoming division champions.
The last time the Tigers won a division title was 1987, before the A.L. had three divisions. Detroit played in the World Series in 2006 as a Wild Card team, losing to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Doug Fister will start on the mound for the Tigers tonight against the A's Trevor Cahill. 10:05 pm first pitch. Cahill is 11-13 while Fister is 5-1 since joining the Tigers. Rick Porcello will pitch in tomorrow afternoon's game and Justin Verlander is scheduled to go for the Tigers on Sunday afternoon.
Time for the Tigers to take care of business and continue to play good baseball heading into the postseason.
