The Tigers got out the whoopin' sticks today and rode the longball to victory over Baltimore. Miguel Cabrera started the homer party with a 2-run shot in the first. Victor Martinez put the Tigers back in front with a 3-run blast in the 5th. Don Kelly also hit a 3-run homer in the 6th to put the Tigers ahead at the time 9-3.
Tiger reliever David Pauley let the O's back into the game when Nolan Reimold hit a 3-run homer in the 8th to make it a 9-6 game. Jhonny Peralta hit a solo shot in the bottom of the inning to give the Tigers a 4-run cushion and that was how this game would end. Detroit is a game behind the Texas Rangers for home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The Tigers will host the Cleveland Indians for the last three regular season games tomorrow through Wednesday, while the Rangers host the Angels in their last three. If the Tigers and Rangers should tie, the Tigers will get home field because they have a better record in head-to-head games against the Rangers. Doug Fister will start tomorrow night's game with the Indians against Ubaldo Jimenez. 7:05 first pitch.
