Phil Coke pitched a pretty good game and left in the 7th with a 1-0 lead.  The bullpen couldn't hold it, but managed to keep the score tied 1-1 through ten innings.

After Miguel Cabrera struck out to lead off the 10th inning, Victor Martinez snuck a base hit into right field.  Manager Jim Leyland had to decide whether to pinch-run for the "not so fleet of foot"  Tiger DH or keep him in the game.   Leyland kept him in there, and Ramon Santiago smoked a double into the gap on the very next pitch to bring Martinez home with the winning run.  David Purcey gets the win in relief after getting the Rays out in the 10th.  The win keeps the Tigers tied for first place with the Cleveland Indians, who shut out the Yankees 1-0 tonight.

The Tigers will open a three game series at Comerica Park tomorrow night against the Indians in a battle for the top spot in the American League Central division.  Justin Verlander will pitch for the Tigers in the opener.  7:05 pm first pitch.  Go Tigers!
