The Detroit Tigers will probably win a lot of games like this one today, outhitting their opponents on a day when our pitching staff didn't have their "A" game. Max Scherzer started the game for the Tigers, and wasn't hitting his spots in most attempts. The Mets got to Scherzer for 3 runs on four hits and two walks in 2 and 2/3rds innings of work. Scherzer did manage to strike out 4. The Tiger bats saved the day, with the newest "Big Fella" going long to drive home two in the 4th inning.

Prince Fielder had three hits including his homer, and drove in three of the Tiger runs. Delmon Young also had a good day at the plate, contributing two hits and two runs batted in. Tiger outfield prospect Quintin Berry continues to impress as he had two hits, including the game winner in the 10th, to put the Tigers in the win column 7-6. Berry probably won't make the team to start the season, but has done some damage and opened some eyes. That might earn him a call up to the big leagues later this season if someone is hurt or struggling.

The Tigers will host the Baltimore Orioles in Grapefruit League action tomorrow afternoon in Lakeland, Florida. The Tigers are 8-1 in Spring Training games so far.
