It may be the off season, but a few members of the Detroit Pistons have been busy making life better for some elementary school students in Flint.

Doyle/Ryder Elementary School in Flint was recently chosen as the recipient of the Detroit Pistons' Reading Room Makeover contest. Members of the NBA team, along with help from Farm Bureau, rolled up their sleeves to renovate the school's library.

Dennis Mannion, CEO of Palace Sports & Entertainment and the Detroit Pistons, tells WDIV that he's pleased his organization can do something good for Flint.

“These youngsters deserve a new space that promotes learning and growth and we are thrilled to partner with Farm Bureau Insurance to give them that opportunity.  We are pleased to work with Flint Community Schools and further reinforce [Pistons owner] Tom Gores’ mission to provide long term support for youth in his hometown.”

The new library will be unveiled Wednesday. (9/21)
