She was less than nine tenths of a mile away, but ignored the call from dispatch to go to the aid of a baby who was in distress. Ann Marie Thomas, a former Emergency Medical Technician for the city of Detroit, has been fired after refusing to attend to the 8-month-old baby until a backup unity arrived.

"I'm not about to be on no scene 10 minutes doing CPR, you know how these families get."

Detroit's WDIV reports that baby was eventually transported to the hospital, but died the next day.
