You still have time to sign up for the Crim Festival of Races, which takes place on Saturday, August 27 in downtown Flint. There are some new  features this year, according to Race Director Deb Kiertzner:

"Every five years we hit a bench mark. I've invited back a group of folks I'm calling the legends of the Crim. These are men and women who have set past records in the race. Also new this year is a timing feature, which participants can register for in August. When you cross the finish line, you'll get a tweet, Facebook or email sent to anybody of your choice giving your time."

Last year close to 17,000 people were part of the event, with 10,000 people participating in the 10 mile race. Once you're done with the race, head to the tent for some entertainment, beer and pizza. The kids can also enjoy their own party at the Flint Journal Family Fun Zone, so there is something for everyone this year.

I did the race for the first time last year and it was a blast. I'm in the training program again this year and it's been a lot of fun. I encourage anyone to come out and participate because you will have a great time. If anything, you'll be glad to be in the beer tent once you're done racing.
