Couple Moves Wedding Date So Terminally Ill Man Can Marry the Love of His Life

Chris Ford and Nicole Wismore weren't planning to get married until October, but doctors cautioned them that Chris may not make it. The Nashville couple celebrated their nuptials Sunday (8/28) knowing that cancer will likely claim Chris' life within just a few weeks.

It was Nicole's idea to move the wedding up.

"It doesn't matter how long you've been together, it doesn't matter the circumstances, it shouldn't matter. I love him too much (to walk away)," she told the Daily News Journal.

Chris Ford was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the mouth and throat, about a year ago, right after the birth of their son.

"During the course of his treatment, his tumors continued to grow and grow. They also grew into his lungs and some of his other organs. About a month ago, he was diagnosed as terminal," Chris' mother Amy Ford tells the DNJ.

Since Chris is unable to speak, his father stood in for him to speak, as the couple exchanged their vows.
