An Owosso High School varsity swimmer is alive today thanks in part to a swimmer at a rival school, Corunna High School.

Kamrin Samson is believed to have had breathing problems during Thursday's meet at Corunna. Xavier Staubs tells ABC-12 he had just finished a relay when he noticed that spectators were frantically trying to get his attention.

"I look over in the stands and my best friend's dads were pointing down and screaming at me to look down, and I looked down and I see this kid just completely limp, floating to the bottom of the pool."

Staubs jumped back into the pool and pushed his rival to the surface so others could help him out of the pool.
