Morning television was doing its thing. George W. Bush and Michael Jordan were in the news. The Today Show, GMA, and The Early Show were all using their own formulas to blend news, politics, fashion, and celebrity gossip into similar products.

"It's kinda quiet around the country," noted one of the morning talking heads, not knowing what would unfold less than an hour later. "We like quiet ... It's too quiet," he quipped.

This YouTube user provides us with a look back, having done some channel surfing (remember channel surfing?) on the morning of September 11, 2001, in the minutes preceding the first plane crash.
