Governor Snyder Proposes Car Registration Rate Hike to Pay for Roads

If Governor Rick Snyder gets his way, it will cost you $120 more each year to register your vehicle in Michigan. Snyder is also suggesting local governments can charge up to an additional $40 per year, which would be used locally.

Judge Blocks Florida’s Welfare Drug Test Law

A federal judge has temporarily blocked a law which requires the state's welfare recipients to take a drug test in order to receive benefits. In June, Florida Governor Rick Scott said the law requires residents be accountable, and noted that it isn't right for taxpayers to subsidize drug users' habits.

Can Flint Get $4.5 Million from Don Williamson?

The City of Flint, in a rare move, has asked a judge to order Don Williamson, Flint's former mayor, to pick up the tab on a $4.5 million judgment awarded to Flint Police officers. The officers sued the city over Williamson's creation of the controversial Citizens Service Bureau, and won. You can probably expect a long court battle between the city and the former mayor, who resigned in 2009 when he was facing a recall election.

Hank Williams Jr. Benched From Monday Night Football

ESPN pulled the plug on Hank Williams Jr.'s intro song for Monday Night Football after the country singer made an analogy to Adolf Hitler in discussing President Barack Obama. In an interview Monday of Fox' News, Williams likened the Obama outing with House Speaker John Boehner: "It'd be like Hitler playing golf with (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu." ESPN noted that while Williams is not an employee, he is still closely linked to Monday Night Football based on his, "Are You Ready For Some Football", opening.
