The View From Castle Rock [PHOTOS]

Last week, I started a series of articles about a trip my son and I took up north last weekend.  Today, we continue with a stop at Castle Rock in St. Ignace.

This rock, at least five stories up, provides an incredible view of the Straits of Mackinac.  Castle Rock is also home to Paul Bunyan and his blue ox, Babe.

Check out photos from atop the rock after the jump.

A Stop At Michigan’s Mystery Spot

Before my son and I left for our venture to Northern Michigan, my dad told me about a place he took me to when I was a child called Mystery Spot in St. Ignace.  I have no recollection of this mysterious location, so Ben and I decided to check it out.

Just days before our departure, our plans fell through and the trip was off.  My son and I had both been really looking forward to a road trip with each other.  A last minute change of plans landed us in Mackinaw Village.

Massive Packing Tape Tunnels Built in Germany [PHOTOS]

How many times have you wrestled with one of those unwieldy packing tape rollers when boxing things up to move or to put in storage? Unless you maneuver it just right, the tape won’t stay straight and winds up twisting over itself into a useless, tangled ball of frustration.

Artists Sven Jonke, Cristoph Katzler and Nikola Radeljkovic have taken this sticky situation and turned it into a work of art, creating the massive, interactive packing tape installation Numen/For Use.
