October 10, 2011 My sister, Nikki, hosted a baby shower for a good friend of the family, Chris. Nikki had gone to school with Chris since they were in elementary school. Chris and I had a few classes together in junior high.
My wife informed me that I was asked to join the festivities. As a guy, I didn't think I was supposed to be in attendance, but then discovered that Chris himself would be there. I was initially reluctant, but I wasn't going to let Chris suffer through it alone.
October 8, 2011 For the first time in several years, I had the pleasure of enjoying a family trip to the apple orchard and cider mill this past week. I had almost forgotten how the taste buds dance to the taste of a freshly-made, still warm cinnamon donut with freshly milled cider on the side.
After Ben's trip to Mackinac Village a few weeks ago, I wanted to take my other two kids on a special trip. Hayli, Parker and I met up with my sister, Nikki, and niece, Phoenix, for a day at the apple orchard while Ben was in school.
October 8, 2011 As I wrap up my vacation blogging, I saved the best for last. Michigan is home to so many cool places, festivals and landmarks. But, in my opinion, what tops the list is the majestic Mackinac Bridge.
Typically on family vacations, my wife handles the picture taking. In her absence, I took on the task, and apparently overdid it. My son, Ben, asked why I needed so many pictures of "Big Mac." I didn't really have an answer at the time, but now I realize it is so I can share them with you. Enjoy!

We stayed from a Sunday night through a Tuesday afternoon. Our hotel stay came with wristbands for unlimited use of water parks at three different hotels. I noticed that the resort town was not that busy during the week. In fact, we had the water parks completely to ourselves.
