Texas Skies Turn Red In Dust Storm [VIDEOS]

The skies over Lubbock, Texas turned red earlier this week as a huge dust cloud overtook the city.  It was a beautiful day with clear, blue skies as the ominous cloud approached.

As it got closer and closer traveling at 70 miles per hour, the cloud appeared almost apocalyptic as it consumed the city.  Check out two different eye-witness videos after the jump.

‘Davison Pumkinfest’ Pumpkin Tops Out at 400lbs!

This time of year there are always lots of contests to see who can grow the biggest pumpkin. Fall Family Traditions At Mid-Michigan Apple Orchards [PHOTOS]

For the first time in several years, I had the pleasure of enjoying a family trip to the apple orchard and cider mill this past week.  I had almost forgotten how the taste buds dance to the  taste of a freshly-made, still warm cinnamon donut with freshly milled cider on the side.

After Ben's trip to Mackinac Village a few weeks ago, I wanted to take my other two kids on a special trip.  Hayli, Parker and I met up with my sister, Nikki, and niece, Phoenix, for a day at the apple orchard while Ben was in school.

A Fall Trip To The Mackinac Bridge [PHOTOS]

As I wrap up my vacation blogging, I saved the best for last. Michigan is home to so many cool places, festivals and landmarks. But, in my opinion, what tops the list is the majestic Mackinac Bridge.

Typically on family vacations, my wife handles the picture taking.  In her absence, I took on the task, and apparently overdid it.  My son, Ben, asked why I needed so many pictures of "Big Mac."  I didn't really have an answer at the time, but now I realize it is so I can share them with you.  Enjoy!

The View From Castle Rock [PHOTOS]

Last week, I started a series of articles about a trip my son and I took up north last weekend.  Today, we continue with a stop at Castle Rock in St. Ignace.

This rock, at least five stories up, provides an incredible view of the Straits of Mackinac.  Castle Rock is also home to Paul Bunyan and his blue ox, Babe.

Check out photos from atop the rock after the jump.

A Stop At Michigan’s Mystery Spot

Before my son and I left for our venture to Northern Michigan, my dad told me about a place he took me to when I was a child called Mystery Spot in St. Ignace.  I have no recollection of this mysterious location, so Ben and I decided to check it out.

I know a lot about illusions, magic, smoke and mirrors, so I was convinced it would be a sham.  However, I'm still wondering what we saw and how it was possible.

Fall Inspires Father/Son Vacation To Michigan’s Mackinaw Village

A few weeks ago, my son, Ben, and I had planned a trip to visit with my grandmother.  She moved in with my aunt and uncle just outside of Washington D.C. about ten years ago, making it much more difficult to spend time with her.

Just days before our departure, our plans fell through and the trip was off.  My son and I had both been really looking forward to a road trip with each other.  A last minute change of plans landed us in Mackinaw Village.
