November 8, 2011 Voters go to the polls today to have their voice heard, and today is the day that state Rep. Paul Scott finds out his fate. Scott is facing a recall in a bitter election dispute with Michigan Education Association. There are more than 20 electoral races to be settled today, but the Paul Scott recall is making the most noise.
November 7, 2011 I would imagine that when asked, most teachers would say they are not over paid. The American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C., is causing waves with a study it released Friday that found teachers are overcompensated in comparison to similarly educated and experienced private-sector workers.

November 2, 2011 When I watching the news last night, I was shocked to find that a preschool student at Beecher's Tucker Elementary was overlooked and left on the bus for more than two-and-a-half hours.
It turns out that the aide who was supposed to ensure all students were safely off the bus somehow missed Deandre Jones, who was sleeping when the bus arrived at the school.
October 26, 2011 The Genesee County Literacy Coalition has a lineup of trained tutors available to assist adults who need help learning to read. The service is absolutely free. The ability to read equals the ability to learn for most people. It also means the ability to function, to fill out a job application, to read signs while driving.
