Taxed For Every Mile You Drive; How Would you Feel About That?

The Obama administration has floated a transportation authorization bill that would require the study and implementation of a plan to tax automobile drivers based on how many miles they drive.

I have been driving an average of about 25,000 per year for the last 15 years, I say no way. I have no clue as to how much the tax would be, I just know it would be a little to costly. Read more of the story after the jump.

Crude Oil Prices Plummet, Gas To Follow?

Sky high fuel prices have forced most of us to drive less, and the diminished demand for petrol has driven the price of a barrel of oil downward dramatically.

Woman Knits Ferrari Using 12 Miles of Yarn [VIDEO]

I'm what you would call a car crazy man, so any story that has anything to do with automobiles I will give it some attention. Like this story about a Ferrari made of wool, that’s right – wool.

UK-based artist Lauren Porter, 22, used approximately 12 miles of the stuff (over 10 years, no less) to craft a red Ferrari that’s almost exactly to scale. Read more and watch the video after the jump.

Waiting…..Waiting….Where Is Spring?

I mentioned weeks ago that I had taken the Solstice out of storage and was preparing for a spring/summer of fun driving. The little blue convertible has been sitting in the garage almost four weeks now, and has barely moved. Oh yes, there was that 83 degree day on a Sunday afternoon three weeks ago that I was able to get it out and take it for a spin through the "Hot Dog Stand" in Grand Blanc, but other that that, we wait.....and wait, for some real spring-like weather.

Motocross Star Illegally Pulls Over Police Car

Nobody likes being pulled over by the cops, so imagine the surprise on one police officer's face when he was pulled to the side of the road -- by a civilian.

That happened this week after Motocross champ James 'Bubba' Stewart flipped on his faux red-and-blue police lights, signaling the undercover Chevy Silverado in front of him to pull over.

We’ve Been Down This Road Before-Ways To Save Gas That Actually Work

Remember the Spring/Summer of 2008?  Gas prices in mid-Michigan were well above $4 a gallon.  We didn't like it then, but a lot of us made some changes that decreased demand for oil which eventually brought prices down.

Foldable, Electric-Powered Bicycles Just Might Be the Wave of the Future [VIDEO]

If you've got $3,600 to spare and don't mind folks gawking at you from behind the wheel, it might be time to invest in a "YikeBike." Conceived as a faster and lighter alternative to the Segway, the YikeBike is a foldable electric bicycle that was ranked by Time Magazine as one of the best inventions of 2009.

It looks kind of like a unicycle with a training wheel, but its inventors say it could change the way we get around. What do you think — wacky invention or wave of the future? CNN's full video story on the YikeBike is after the jump.

Spring Arrives Today…(At My House)

It's a rite of spring at my house. It doesn't matter whether the groundhog sees his shadow, or what the date on the calendar says.
Each year, usually a few weeks before it is "OFFICIALLY" spring, I celebrate the coming season by rolling the Solstice out of storage, and prepare for a summer of driving fun!
This will be my sixth summer with the Solstice. Pontiac quit making them after the bankruptcy of General Motors and the elimination of the Pontiac brand.
This particular Solstice is a collector's item. It is #253 of the first one thousand made. Pontiac did a promotion with the television show, "The Apprentice", for the "First 1000" contest.
