Bruno Mars was the first pop act to perform at the 2012 Grammy Awards and the second performer overall, following classic rock legend Bruce Springsteen, who opened the show. Mars rocked his way through ‘Runaway Baby’ with a classic, Rat Pack energy. His performance was inspired by another era. But that’s what Mars does  so well. He even busted out a golden megaphone mid-set, too.

Topping his simple black trousers and black t-shirt with a gold blazer and bowtie, the always stylish Mars turned in a performance that was well-choreographed. There was not a hair out of place in his famous bouffant coif, either. Mars’ performance was fun and fast-paced, but he also took a moment to throw a shout out to Whitney Houston.

He then proceeded to tell the Grammy attendees, mostly comprised of the music industry elite in terms of performers and their handlers, to get off their “rich a–es” and celebrate music. You tell ‘em, Bruno Mars.

He certainly kicked things up a notch, especially when he engaged in a few James Brown-inspired dance moves and showed off some fancy footwork.
