Even if you are blessed with hit records, Grammy awards, lots of songs on the radio and a recent "Rolling Stone" magazine cover, you always stand the chance of losing the things that are most important in your life.

Just ask Bruno Mars.

A Mars' representative confirmed to CNN on Saturday that Bernadette Hernandez, Bruno's mom, passed away suddenly of a brain aneurysm in a Honolulu, Hawaii hospital.

She was just 55 years old.

 Bernadette Hernandez was a singer and hula dancer who immigrated to Hawaii from the Philippines, and Bruno's family is a musical one. His four sisters form an all girl band, and his brother is the drummer. In his band. Read more about his musical childhood here.
