BREAKING: Palace of Auburn Hills Will Close in September

People were somewhat expecting this after the announcement that the Pistons would move to Detroit, but today, it was made official.

Bob Seger's show on September 23rd will be the final show at the venue. There's only three events left at the Palace on the calendar: Tim McGraw-Faith Hill on Sept. 8, a bridal expo on Sept. 10 and the Seger show.

The Palace is 29-years-old, and underwent renovations to include leather seating and and remodeled entrances in 2011. There's no word on what will happen to the property, but there are rumors that it will be sold turned into a high-tech research park.

Such a shame, seems like a waste of a great building. Lots of amazing history there.
