We've all heard of attack dogs, but attack birds? It really did happen, a Fort Smith man says he survived an early morning home invasion thanks to his pet bird, Charlie. Owner Jack Dukes says,"he's my best friend", I would imagine they're even better friends now.

Meet this amazing bird after the jump.

Jack says, he let two men inside his Fort Smith apartment around 2:35 a.m. Monday, thinking one of them was a neighbor.

Dukes says, the men beat him and demanded hydrocodone pills. When one of the suspects grabbed Charlie, the bird attacked. "He went to screaming and the bird went to screaming," said Dukes. Charlie bit one of the suspects, and his beak took a chunk out of the man’s arm, both suspects fled the scene after the attack.

Jack says Charlie likes to eat fried chicken and banana pudding, I don't know what that has to do with the case, but I thought you might like to know. Wouldn't it be safe to say Charlie is no chicken?

Check out the video and meet Charlie.
