Former ABC-12 anchor Bill Harris will be on special assignment, reporting from Grand Rapids today at 4, 5 and 6pm on WJRT.

A homeland security conference begins today, following the death of Osama bin Laden.  About 1,500 emergency service  and homeland security personnel are expected to attend.

From ABC-12's website:  Harris will use his more than 30 years experience with local, state and federal agencies to explain what the training entails and why it's important to Mid-Michigan residents.

The ABC affiliate released Harris on April 6th days after ABC/Disney sold it to SJL Broadcasting.  Cars 108's Rod & Erin spoke with him about his departure, and 33-year career with ABC-12 on April 8th.

Even if it's only an occasional special assignment, it will great to see Bill back on the air in Flint, where he belongs.
