The fire that burned on the roof of the Whaley Historical House did more than structural damage, it threatened to take away a window into the history of Flint.

There is no solid word on what caused the fire, but some of the staff think that the contract work that was ongoing, may be to blame.

The Whaley Historical House was originally owned by the president of Citizens Bank, which is now First Merit Bank.

The extent of the damage is still unknown, as crews hope to get inside the house today and see what has been lost.
