* * UPDATE, 6/26 * *

Sources say the man whose child died after being left in a hot car all day used his work computer to search for information about how long it would take for an animal to die in a hot vehicle. (Updated video follows) WREG also reports that Justin Ross Harris took his son to breakfast at a restaurant close to his place of employment before going to work, and that he briefly entered his vehicle around lunchtime.

Original Story:

Police investigating a man whose child died after being left in a hot car are now questioning his story. Justin Ross Harris says he forgot to drop his 22-month-old son off at daycare and went straight to work, leaving the toddler strapped in his car seat all day.

Authorities now say the man's story is riddled with inconsistencies.

"Much has changed about the circumstances leading up to the death of this 22-month-old since it was first reported," Cobb County Police Sgt. Dana Pierce told CNN.

Harris told police he had begun his shift at an Atlanta-area (GA) Home Depot at 9am, and discovered the child's lifeless body in the back of his SUV shortly after 4pm. Temperatures in the are reached 88 degrees on the day of the incident.

Although Sgt. Pierce was not able to elaborate, he indicated that the man's story may not add up.

"I cannot confirm that the child, as originally reported, was in the car at 9 a.m."
