Flint attorney Frank Manley asks that people keep an open mind, and predicts that Father Ken Coughlin will ultimately be found innocent of any wrongdoing. Coughlin is the Grand Blanc priest who has been accused of inappropriately touching two students at Church of the Holy Family Catholic Church and School.

"We understand the sensitive nature of these types of cases, but ask that people not rush to judgment based on historical cases having nothing to do with Father Coughlin," Manley said. "We need people to keep an open mind and at the end of the process we expect Father Coughlin to be vindicated."

Coughlin has been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.

Holy Family also has a K-8 school. During Coughlin's absence, Father Jonathan Perrotta will serve as administrator. In a letter on the church's website, Perrotta assured parents that keeping children safe is a top priority.

"The Diocese of Lansing and Holy Family Church and School are committed to keeping all children safe. The steps we followed and will continue to follow in the future are focused on ensuring child safety."
