The Detroit Lions finished up a perfect (4-0) exhibition season and are ready for the "real" season to begin. After finishing last season with four straight wins, there is hope for these Lions. They won all four exhibition games this season and are holding high hopes for 2001-12.

Of course, winning all your exhibition games doesn't mean much. The last time they did that they went 0-16 on the season. But each year brings new hope. There are couple of things that the Lions need to have go right this year if they are to turn around a lengthy string of losing seasons. They need to stay healthy. This is especially true of quarterback Matthew Stafford. he has been hurt the past two years and has yet to put together s full season. This is the year to make that happen. They also need some breaks. It seems they have been on the wrong end of a number of bad calls by the officials over the past few years, and they are due for a break. It's a long season....let it begin with a win this Sunday at Tampa Bay!
