And it was actually from the daughter of somebody he had met the day before.

Kasey Simmons, a 32-year-old from Dallas, was at a Kroger, waiting in line to check out...and he saw a woman that looked down in the dumps. So, he said a few nice words to her, and paid her $17 grocery bill.

The next day, he was working his job as a server at a local Applebee's, and he got a note from a diner...plus, a $500 tip on a .37 cent bill.

The diner happened to be the daughter of the woman that Kasey had spoken to at Kroger the day before. And it was also the three-year anniversary of the woman's husband's death.

The note said:

On one of the most depressing days of the year ... you made my mother’s day wonderful. You insisted on paying. Told her she is a very beautiful woman. I have not seen this woman smile this much since dad died ... You made her year.

Just goes to show how far a small act of kindness can go, even if it's just a few nice words and a $17 grocery bill.
