A black, flat-coated retriever named Gemma wandered around the Lapeer area for two days with a crossbow sticking out of her head. Now, dozens of people have called to adopt her.

Lapeer County Animal Control Chief Officer Amy Orn says that she expects charges to be brought against the owner, who allegedly shot Gemma on March 28th because she acted "aggressively" against his other dog.

The man's name has not been released because he wasn't arrested or charged. However, authorities have said that they didn't see another dog on his property when they questioned him. A vet performed surgery at a discount on Gemma, and she's said to be doing well.
