Ride sharing service Lyft announced they are coming to Mid-Michigan.

Lyft announced on Thursday that they have expanded their service to include Flint, Saginaw, and Midland. With the added cities, Lyft is now available in 300 cities nationwide.

Lyft is similar to Uber in the ride sharing industry. You request a ride by downloading the app. It uses the GPS on your phone to tell available drivers your location. When I logged in this morning there were 2 cars available for rides from my office within 15 minutes. A ride from my office in Burton to Downtown Flint was estimated to cost between $7 and $12 through the app. If you plan on going out and having a couple adult beverages, ride sharing services are definitely more convenient than finding a friend to come get you, and cheaper than a ticket.
