Jonathan and Mary Smith started the Thomas Smith Memorial Foundation after suddenly losing their 17-year-old son at a high school football game four years ago. The Smiths believe Tommy's death could have been prevented, had he been screened beforehand, and have since worked diligently make teen heart screenings available to every teen in Genesee County.
