The annual Bauman's Charity Race 5k run & walk, 1-mile fun run and Super Hero 1/2K Dash will take place on Thursday, August 16th at Flint's Kettering University. The kids races will start first at 6:45, then the 5k will start at 7 pm.
The Flint Children's Museum is closed on Monday, but it's rockin' for kids of all ages the other six days of the week. The Flint Children's Museum features over 40 "hands-on" educational and fun exhibits every day, plus plenty of special activities.
The Flint Institute of Arts will host the second annual Create Your Own Masterpiece Intercollegiate LEGO event on Saturday, February 18 from 1-4 pm. Students from area colleges and universities will compete for this year's trophy and People's Choice Award.
Here's something you don't get a chance to do every day. Kettering University's Interfraternity Council is hosting a 100-person tomato fight at 10:30 Saturday morning in the field behind the Kettering Recreation Center. Rotten tomatoes, donated by vendors from the Flint Farmer's Market will be thrown at opposing participants. A $5 entry fee will be charged to raise money to replace flood-damaged equipment at Durant Tuuri Mott Elementary School.
September is "Prostate Cancer Awareness Month". A golf fundraiser to honor Larry Sarver is being held to help raise funds for prostate cancer research, and for providing scholarships for Kettering University students.Larry Sarver had just retired after 33 years at Kettering when diagnosed with prostate cancer. He lost his battle against it in 2005.
