The data, analyzed by '24/7 Wall St.' conclude that no other US city with more than 100,000 residents, had a higher violent crime rate. Flint has the second-highest murder rate, and the highest rates of aggravated assault, burglary and arson in the nation.

Although police presence has been greatly reduced in recent years, Flint Mayor Dayne Walling cites the number of guns, and those with evil motives:

“There are too many guns on the street and it’s easy for individuals with evil motives to take another human being’s life.”

Flint's median income of $22,672 was the lowest of the ten cities examined. Only Detroit and Stockton, California posted unemployment rates that topped Flint's 18.9%.
