Just in case The Dark Tower and IT haven’t satiated your Stephen King fix this year, Netflix has you covered with a new adaptation on the way. But if you’re freaked out by rats, you might want to skip 1922.

Based on King’s novella 1922, published in the 2010 collection Full Dark, No Stars, the Netflix movie from director Zak Hilditch stars Thomas Jane as Wilfred James. A Nebraska farmer, Wilfred confesses to murdering his wife, played by Molly Parker (DeadwoodHouse of Cards), but after he buries the body he becomes haunted by visions of her. But since ghosts aren’t enough, a slew of nasty rats parade through his home and pop out of his wardrobe to give him little love bites. The first trailer is scored to eerie music that makes the disturbing premise all the more nerve-racking. Here’s the full synopsis:

1922 is based on Stephen King’s 131-page story telling of a man’s confession of his wife’s murder. The tale is told from from the perspective of Wilfred James, the story’s unreliable narrator who admits to killing his wife, Arlette, with his son in Nebraska. But after he buries her body, he finds himself terrorized by rats and, as his life begins to unravel, becomes convinced his wife is haunting him.

The movie, which also stars Dylan Schmid as Wilfred’s son and Brian d’Arcy as the local sheriff, is set to premiere at Fantastic Fest before it hits Netflix on October 20, just in time to put you on edge for Halloween. And if you’re still craving more King, there’s still that upcoming Hulu Castle Rock series and the Suffer the Little Children adaptation to look forward to.
