Talk about the benefits of exercise!

This discovery is thought to be the largest of its' kind in U.S. history.

A couple who wishes to be anonymous were out walking their dog on their property in northern California, when something shiny under a tree caught the sunlight. They started to dig and eventually found eight metal cans containing more than 1,400 rare gold coins, in mint condition.

The gold coins were in denominations of $5, $10 and $20, dating from 1847 to 1894. Most were minted in San Francisco, and based on their face value alone, the collection would be worth $27,000. Experts say that at auction, however, the coins could bring upwards of $10 million.

The anonymous couple plans to sell most of the collection on Amazon.com's "collectables" site.

It's probably not unusual that that part of Northern California is selling a lot of metal detectors, all of a sudden!
